Dr. Todd Hubbard, DC, MS

About me:

I graduated from chiropractic College, Davenport, IA, in 1996. I started working for Matz's family chiropractic, in Missoula Mt from June until December of that year. In January 1997 until June of 1998, I work for health first chiropractic in Sedro Woolley, WA. I chose to focus my chiropractic career on upper cervical chiropractic principles. Working with Dr. Scott Matz in Missoula and Dr. Michael Lenars in Sedro Woolley allowed me to further my education in upper cervical chiropractic. In July of 1998 I opened my own private practice, Hubbard family chiropractic, in Sycamore, IL. While in private practice I got my certification as a chiropractic sports practitioner (CCSP) and obtained an advanced level instructor for the Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic Society. This lead me back to Palmer College of Chiropractic where I taught the Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic technique as an adjunct professor and in 2003, I began teaching full time at Palmer.

I worked at Palmer College of chiropractic, Davenport, IA, until June of 2021. During my time there I advanced to an Associate Professor, teaching in the Palmer Clinics. I also taught in the cadaver anatomy labs and technique courses. I was the lead instructor for the Blair Upper Cervical Chiropractic Technique course. In 2010 I received a master’s degree in clinical research, switching my focus to research and dropping my CCSP. I published multiple articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.

In 2021 I moved on from teaching and went into private practice call back with Matz family chiropractic in Missoula, MT. I practiced in Montana from June 2021 to November 2023. I was pulled out of clinical practice and underwent treatment for cancer. Starting in Montana, and then to Iowa City, IA, where I achieved remission from AML. In March of 2025 the cancer returned. As I progress with my second battle (in many ways a continuation of the first battle) against AML, I cannot let go of my passion for chiropractic in the advancement of Our knowledge overall Wellness.

A primary focus of clinical practice while teaching at Palmer was the advancement of Evidence Based Clinical Practice (EBCP). EBCP is a guideline of clinical practice where 3 areas of information are used to obtain a course of action for the patient. These 3 areas are: 1. The available information in scientific literature. 2. The healthcare provider’s knowledge and background on the subject. 3. The patient’s point of view (what are the patient’s wants and concerns). All 3 areas are supposed to have equal weight in making the decision to move forward with a course of care. There may be situations where the patient may defer to the provider, or the provider will refer the patient to someone else more experienced or specialized, or there may not be sufficient evidence in the scientific literature on the specific issue(s). Nonetheless, the action for care needs to be an active conversation with the patient.

My experience with EBCP is what has led me to Wellness for the Heartland. My view for Wellness in the heartland is to be a one stop source for the public to get information on options to wellness and healthcare in the Iowa city area, Iowa and beyond. I plan on using the guidelines of EBCP To introduce the latest knowledge from the peer reviewed scientific literature to the public. BCP principles two other articles published in magazines and newspapers as well as social media. I will also be giving my opinion, and sometimes an attempt at humor, on different topics. Hope you enjoy.
